Why I started walking

There were really two reasons that I began to walk as a form of exercise, one is an excuse and the other a reality. I have always loved the out of doors, another hobby is fishing. I have found it funny that if one says that I am going out today to walk along a river people really think that  you are a bit odd. Tell them that you are going fishing and this is a very trendy thing to do. The really nice thing about walking as opposed to running is that you don’t have to spend time watching where you are going, rather you can spend time enjoying the country side that you are walking through.

The second reason is that I discovered that I am pre-diabetic. I had several choices, one being starting to take medication and the other change my diet and lifestyle. Regular walking seemed a natural and thus far I have successfully managed my diabetes.

  1. Nice start. Looks like Tombstone Lake. If I recall, it’s farther than it looks and the descent was interesting.
